WOWT, Methodist Stuff the Bus Food Drive June 6
The food and nutrition issues that our community is facing, as well as the constant need for items at local food pantries, are why Methodist is partnering
with WOWT for its “Stuff the Bus” food drive campaign.
From 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday,
June 6, school buses will be in parking lots at Methodist Women’s Hospital (192nd and Dodge) and the NP Dodge Building just east of Methodist Physicians Clinic Indian Hills (87th and Dodge) to collect food to stock the shelves at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
Those in need can visit the “choice style” St. Vincent de Paul pantry, which allows clients to choose the items they like and prefer. Options typically include milk, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and a variety of packaged food items.
For “Stuff the Bus,” all items are welcome, but a particular need exists for cereal, baking items (sugar, flour, etc.) and breakfast box mixes (pancake mix, oatmeal).
In the Omaha metro community, there are more than 150,000 individuals with low food access, meaning they don’t live in proximity to a large supermarket or grocery store. This was an issue that was identified in the recent Community Health Needs Assessment, of which Methodist is a participant.
While donation barrels will not be available at Methodist Health System locations, we certainly encourage employees to donate if they feel inclined to do so.
