Flooding in Glenwood Becomes Personal for Clinic, PT Staff
The Methodist Jennie Edmundson PT-OT-ST team in Glenwood stepped up in a big way this week when they served breakfast to about 70 Iowans displaced by the flood.
Members of the physical therapy group prepared and served casseroles, biscuits and gravy, coffee cakes, dozens of Krispy Kreme donuts and other food at the YMCA in Glenwood.
Registration specialist Jenni Giesting said it was such a humbling experience.
“I cried a few times because I am a local and I know many of the families we served,” she said. “We have a coworker here that has lost everything. It is devastating to see all of these families that have had their lives turned upside down, most of them still not able to get into their homes.”
The clinic’s giving hasn’t stopped there. PTA Robin Beery began offering to fill water jugs for local employees without access to fresh water. Giesting said the effort now has spread across the clinic and other staffers who live out of town are bringing in fresh water.
“I have never been so proud to work with the group that I do,” she said. “They are amazing people and didn’t even question helping this community or me personally.”
