2018 Caring Campaign Kicks Off August 24

I am always proud to tell people where I work.

Inevitably, the conversation turns to a great experience they or friends or loved ones had at Methodist. As I listen, I am most proud of the unifying element in these stories: our Methodist employees.

You embody The Meaning of Care. You are why so many people choose to make Methodist their first choice for health care. Together, we are all part of a strong team transforming and saving lives.

The annual Caring Campaign is another example of what sets us apart.

Every September* we are asked to support our favorite program or project through Methodist Hospital Foundation. Last year, 82 percent of you chose to give back to our patients by participating in the Caring Campaign. That is a very impressive percentage. The national average for an employee giving campaign is around 33 percent participation.

Our support makes such a big difference. I make a gift every year because I see the impact of our generosity — from the cancer survivor who can now afford her medication to the employee who is taking classes because of a scholarship to the patient who just had surgery in one of our new operating rooms.

There are seven different programs or projects you can support, and Caring Campaign’s greatest need this year is Methodist Mobile Mammography. We are introducing the area’s first and only 3-D mobile mammography program.

Every two minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Access to mammograms for early detection and treatment of breast cancer has never been more important, yet Nebraska’s mammogram screening rate ranks 40th in the nation. We can and must do better!

Methodist will bring our Mobile Mammography operation directly to women in underserved neighborhoods, community centers and local businesses.

As with every service Methodist provides, you are the key to helping make this new project a success.

Thank you for considering a gift. Thank you for all you do to make Methodist The Meaning of Care.
