Balance and Fall Program
Gain the strength and balance to become more active, more confident and more independent by participating in the Balance and Fall Prevention Program. Customized to fit each person, one's balance impairments and level of mobility determine the program needs.
The first step is a comprehensive assessment of:
- Balance
- Endurance
- Flexibility
- Gait
- Overall condition
- Strength
Medical conditions that can impact a person's ability to perform activities are also taken into consideration. These could include: illness or injury; use of medications; or the neurological effects of stroke, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, or similar conditions.
Balance Technology
Methodist Physical Therapy utilizes the Balance MasterTM, an interactive computerized system which uses visual feedback and sensitive monitoring of movements to help see what is impacting balance and mobility. This assessment and retraining tool is coupled with one-on-one instruction, and a customized program of exercises and activities to increase strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. Many participants become less reliant on walkers, canes and other assistive devices, or are able to eliminate their use entirely.
The Balance Team
One key to success is interaction with our team of experienced physical therapists, who are balance and gait specialists. We offer specialized care for specific needs, and work closely with your primary care physician.
