Teen Volunteers

In the past year, the Teen Volunteers at Jennie Edmundson Hospital have completed more than 12,500 hours of community service, which is roughly equivalent to six years of paid working time.

The Teen Volunteers are a vital part of the hospital's everyday function. Their duties include:

  • Aiding nurses by refilling water, changing linen, stocking supplies and assiting patients at meal time.
  • Visiting with patients and guests.
  • Working in Central Supply where they stock port access kits.
  • Staffing the front desk to give directions, deliver mail and flowers and answer the telephone.
  • Working at County Fairs passing out water and health information materials.

The Teen Volunteer Program provides leadership opportunities as well as fundraising, public relations, human resources and creative design experience. The program helps teens learn new skills and gain the responsibility and accountability that they will need to be successful.
