Methodist Hospital

Surgery

More surgical procedures are performed each year at Methodist Hospital than any other hospital in the region. The physicians, nurses and other members of your care team are highly trained and highly effective, working closely with you and your family to plan your care every step of the way. We encourage you to take an active role in your surgical experience. Ask questions; understand what is expected of you, and what you can expect of us, before and after the surgery. Know your options when it comes to blood conservation; food and fluid restrictions; exercise requirements; and pain management. And remember this: we are united in our commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes.

Methodist Hospital provides care for the following surgical specialties:

Surgical Technology

Methodist Hospital is home to the only Gamma Knife in the area and also is home to two da Vinci Surgical Systems.

FamilyVue Tracks Surgical Patients

A new patient tracking system has been installed at Methodist Hospital to make it easier to follow the progress of your loved one through surgery. FamilyVue monitors are located in the Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery waiting rooms, the Hospital Cafeteria on the second floor and Cyber Joe’s, the Internet café on the first floor.

Coded names appear on the monitors and the time the patient goes to pre-op, surgery and recovery are displayed. The display automatically refreshes every 20 seconds, keeping information accurate and in real time. Brochures to explain the system are given to family members when the patient is admitted.

Methodist Hospital Blood Conservation Program

Methodist Hospital is proud to be one of only a few Nebraska hospitals to offer blood conservation. Blood conservation is a comprehensive approach to patient care that reduces or eliminates the need for donor blood transfusions. Health benefits of a blood conservation program can include a reduced infection rate and shorter hospital stays.  Learn more about the Blood Conservation Program.
