The Breast Care Center at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center is the most comprehensive in the region, combining sophisticated diagnostic procedures with a full range of treatment options, all housed in one convenient location.

Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center (MECC) Breast Care Center has been granted a three-year, full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.

MECC is the only accredited breast care center in Nebraska, as well as any of the bordering states. The nearest accredited breast centers are located in St. Louis and Minneapolis.

Accreditation by the NAPBC is only granted to breast centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.

How important is accreditation?  According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), approximately 185,000 patients were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States in 2008. In addition, hundreds of thousands of women who dealt with benign breast disease required medical evaluation for treatment options.

A Personalized Approach

The Breast Care Center offers many unique benefits, including a personalized approach to a woman's individual needs and weekly breast tumor conferences that bring together the skills and experience of specialists, including surgical oncologists, general and reconstructive surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses and other specialists. All work in tandem to discuss diagnoses and confirm the best possible course of treatment for every patient.

To round out this complement of breast care services, Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center offers patients a wealth of support throughout the journey. Eligible cancer patients participate in local and national breast cancer prevention and treatment trails. Specialized rehabilitation programs support patients in recovery with therapy and exercise programs, psychological counseling and numerous support groups. Educational resources are close at hand, available through the Cancer Center Library and online through our Health Information Library.
