Visiting Hours

Family members and friends are welcome to visit. General hospital visiting hours are 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. daily. An adult must accompany all children who visit the hospital. Please check with the patient’s nurse before bringing children into the patient’s room.

We offer several options for patient and visitor parking while at Methodist Hospital or the Estabrook Cancer Center. Complimentary Valet Parking, a multi-story parking garage and surface parking are all provided.

Methodist Hospital Floor Maps

Computers and Cell Phones

Computers for the use of patients and their families are available in the Family Rooms on each floor and the Patient & Family Resource Center. Wireless Internet is available throughout the hospital. Cell phones are permitted throughout the hospital except in places where electronic monitoring is used.

Gift Shop

The Methodist Hospital Gift Shop offers a wide selection of cards, flowers, gift ware, jewelry, baby items, magazines, candy and sundries. Phone orders for delivery of a gift to a patient's room are accepted with a credit card only. We accept Visa, MasterCard and personal checks. The Gift Shop is open Monday – Sunday, please call (402) 354-4215 for specific hours.

Please do not give gifts of plants or flowers to patients in Critical Care or bring latex balloons into the hospital.

Tobacco Free for Health

All Methodist Health System corporate and clinical campuses are tobacco free. If you will be a patient at Methodist Hospital, you can contact your physician regarding a nicotine replacement option during your stay.


Methodist Hospital is committed to patient safety. We believe in teamwork and ask that you partner with us to help keep your loved one safe.

Methodist Hospital’s FIRSTeam (Family Initiated Rapid Response Team) is a safety tool for patients, families and visitors. FIRSTeam brings together the patient, their loved ones and a team of health care professionals to keep the patient safe.

This program allows patients, relatives, friends and acquaintances to summon the FIRSTeam if the patient needs immediate, emergency medical attention simply by dialing 4-3-9-9-9 on the house telephone.

Specialized staff, including a critical care nurse, a respiratory therapist and a supervisor, trained in emergency care will respond promptly.

Pastoral Services

Pastoral Services staff members are available for visitation, prayer and spiritual encouragement 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To request pastoral services while inside the hospital, dial 0. If you need assistance contacting your minister or the community chaplain, please notify your nurse.

Social Services

Social Services personnel are available to assist you with planning for care after you leave the hospital and can provide additional information or services that will promote continued healing. To reach Social Services, please call

Interpreter Services

Methodist Health System is committed to clearly and thoroughly communicating with all patients and their families about the care we provide. Interpreter services for non-English speaking and hearing-impaired patients are important to quality health care. Please let your doctor know in advance about your language or hearing needs. If you need an interpreter while in the hospital, please contact your nurse or doctor.

Methodist Hospital Patient & Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center provides a comfortable atmosphere where patients and families can learn about a medical diagnosis or procedure with assistance from knowledgeable Resource Center staff. Computers and TV/DVDs are available for patients and families to use. The Family Resource Center is located on the First Floor, North Tower Lobby, next to the hospital Gift Shop. The Family Resource Center is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. You can have materials sent to you by calling (402) 354-8739.

Surgical Patients and Visitors

Methodist Hospital provides surgical services across a wide variety of specialties. For those waiting at the hospital during a loved one's surgery, we provide monitors to track the loved one's progress through the procedure. This service, called FamilyVue, displays coded messages that help keep track of the patient's surgical progress. FamilyVue monitors are located in the Cafeteria, Cyber Joe's and the surgical waiting rooms. 

Methodist Hospital Blood Conservation Program

Blood conservation is a comprehensive approach to patient care that strives to reduce or eliminate the need for donor blood transfusions.  Upon admission, you will be asked to state your preference regarding blood transfusion.
